Sandilands axed from Idol role - Yahoo!7 News ….. Mover Over Fat Man !! My turn to Cuddle Jackie O ! ;)

Controversial radio and television personality Kyle Sandilands has been dumped as a judge on Network Ten's music talent show, Australian Idol, the network says.

His dumping on Monday follows outrage over Sandilands' 2Day FM breakfast program last week when a 14-year-old girl was strapped to a lie detector and asked on air about her sexual history.

She then revealed she had been raped when she was 12.

"Obviously culminating with events of last week, we have made the decision that Kyle will no longer be a judge on Australian Idol," Ten programming boss David Mott said on the station's 5pm news.

"Australian Idol is very much a family program and its appeal is very much right across the board and we'd like to think that all families can enjoy the program in front of the TV."

Ten released a statement saying the decision had come after "significant discussions and consideration".

"We thank Kyle for his contribution to Australian Idol over the last four years," the statement said.

"But it has become increasingly clear that as Idol has remained a family focused show, even more so this year with the 6.30pm Sunday time slot, his radio persona has taken on a more controversial position over this period which is not in the interest of the show."

Sandilands will appear in Idol's audition shows which have already been recorded but guest judges will take his place for the rest of the season.

Australian Idol returns to the Ten Network next Sunday night for its seventh season.

Sandilands will be on the program for the first three episodes, featuring the auditions, which were filmed earlier in the year.

Ten said they are yet to decide on a replacement.

"Discussions regarding a fresh replacement will continue over the coming weeks, and a new face will take up the third seat on the judging panel alongside Marcia Hines and Ian 'Dicko' Dickson from the live performance shows, which commence on August 24," the statement said.

Rob Thomas A Day On The Green Adelaide – Feb 7 2010

ROB THOMAS FOR NEXT ‘A DAY ON THE GREEN’
Four Events Nationally In February 2010
Special guest support artist Vanessa Amorosi
Rob Thomas, lead singer of Matchbox Twenty and a hugely successful solo artist in his own right, returns to Australia this summer for a limited series of concerts in arenas and at the popular ‘a day on the green’ winery events.
Thomas is a prolific songwriter who has contributed to the sales of over 80 million albums worldwide to date - as lead singer/songwriter with Matchbox Twenty, as an award-winning collaborator with the likes of Willie Nelson, Mick Jagger, Bernie Taupin and Carlos Santana, and most recently as a solo artist.
After warming up with a two-month US tour, Thomas will kick off his Australian dates in Melbourne on February 5. He will perform at ‘a day on the green’ concerts at Leconfield Wines, McLaren Vale SA, Centennial Vineyards, Bowral NSW, Rochford Wines, Yarra Valley VIC and Sandalford Wines, Swan Valley WA.
The tour’s special guest will be one of the great voices of Australian music, Vanessa Amorosi. Her album “Somewhere In the World” yielded the gorgeous platinum single “Perfect” which has been nominated in the upcoming APRA Awards as The Most Played Australian Work for 2008. Most recently Vanessa teamed up with US rockers Hoobastank featuring on their song and video for “The Letter”. Her live performances are always acclaimed and of course, expect the hits we all love ‘Absolutely Everybody’ and ‘Shine’.
Rob Thomas undertook his first solo Australian tour in February 2006, a visit that included 9 sold-out arena dates. As the front man of Matchbox Twenty and as a solo artist, Rob has toured Australia 6 times, most recently in 2008, with total ticket sales now well in excess of 350,000 nationally.
Thomas embarked on a solo career with the 2005 album release Something To Be. Fuelled by the #1 worldwide smash hit Lonely No More, This Is How A Heart Breaks, and Ever The Same, the album went #1 here and in the US, and hit multi-platinum sales.
Last month, his follow up album Cradlesong was released. The album went straight into the top 5 on the ARIA album chart and hit #3 in the Billboard Top 200, and features the hit single Her Diamonds, a multi-week # 1 airplay hit in Australia.
The Grammy Award winner has his name on an impressive number of smash hits including US #1s Push, 3AM, If You're Gone, Bent, How Far We've Come, the Carlos Santana hit Smooth, as well as on other major tracks such as Real World, Back 2 Good, Little Wonders, Mad Season, and Bright Lights.
"The reason I do what I do is because I have all these songs that are always building up in my head, so it's really cathartic to get a load of them out into the world and start over again," Thomas says. "And the solo career is a really important way for me to do that."
Melbourne band Ryan Meeking and The Few will make their ‘a day on the green’ debut as the event’s opening act. The band has signed a major deal with Warner Music, recorded an EP called “Night Owls” and have been building a loyal following in Victoria. Industry tipsters are predicting a big future. For all event information, go to www.adayonthegreen.com.au.

Men At Work lungs Colin Hay has a new album on the album. Hay will release his new album `American Sunshine` through Compass Records.

The album will be Hay’s first in three years and first since he did a few rounds as part of Ringo Starr’s All-Starr Band.

Since his last album, Hay also provided one of the voices for the animated movie ‘The Wild’.

Only last month, he had a cameo in the season 8 finale of Scrubs. Hay contributed music to the show and a payback had a walk-on role where the character J.D. comes out of the hospital and sees the faces of people who have been in the hospital over the years. Colin once performed a version of Men At Work’s ‘Overkill’ in the show.

Men At Work broke-up in 1985 after three studio albums. Only this year, Ron Strykert, another member of the band was arrested for making death threats against the singer.

Jet Prepares To "Shaka Rock" With New Album

As Australian rockers Jet prepare to unleash their third album, “Shaka Rock,” drummer Chris Cester sat down to discuss some of the disc’s standout tracks. Cester shed some insight into “K.I.A.”, the hard-charging song that tackles the war-like pressures of everyday life.

“I had this idea of certain elements of life being like a war zone,” he says. “The song has an operatic, dramatic feel, and it really mirrors the dramatic content of the song, which is suburban warfare.” Cester also talked about the song’s wild recording process, which included a bunch of hyperactive 4-year-olds and a college drumline.
On the other hand, first single “She’s a Genius” is a more playful tune that recalls past hits “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” and “Rollover DJ”. Cester says that the track is “about a girl who does things that just take it to the next level in your mind,” and offers a story about a particular girl who got a bit playful with the drummer at a bar.

She’s a Genius” is a taste of the guitar-driven power of “Shaka Rock,” set for an August 25th release on Real Horrorshow Records/Five Seven Music. This March, Jet played a high-octane version of the song to a massive audience at Melbourne’s “Sound Relief” benefit show. Check out footage of “Genius” – as well as a rocking performance of “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” via the video players on this page.

Former nanny 'stomach pumped' Jackson - Yahoo!7 News

The former nanny of Michael Jackson's three children said she regularly had to pump his stomach to remove cocktails of painkillers, British newspapers reported on Sunday.

Grace Rwaramba, who was abruptly sacked by Jackson in December, also spoke of her fears for the future of the children following his death and has flown to Los Angeles from Europe hoping to be reunited with them.

The Jackson family are angry at the unanswered questions surrounding the star's final hours, amid reports that the singer's doctor Conrad Murray injected him with the painkiller Demerol shortly before his death.

Rwaramba, 42, said in comments reported by The Sunday Times that the star was addicted to narcotic painkillers.

"I had to pump his stomach many times. He always mixed so much of it.

"There was one period that it was so bad that I didn't let the children see him... He always ate too little and mixed too much."

She said she once appealed to Jackson's mother, Katherine, and sister, Janet, to intervene and persuade him to seek treatment for his addiction, but Michael turned on her and accused her of betrayal.

"He didn't want to listen; that was one of the times he let me go," she said.

Rwandan-born Rwaramba worked for Jackson for more than a decade, first as an office assistant before becoming nanny to his children, 12-year-old Michael Jr, known as Prince, Paris, 11, and Prince Michael II, seven, nicknamed Blanket.

She was finally dismissed in December last year, but claims she returned several times to see the children, making her most recent trip in April.

Tabloid newspaper News of the World - which is owned by the same company as The Sunday Times - said she had screamed with shock when she heard of the star's death, while she was at the Swiss home of TV interviewer Daphne Barak.

AdelaideNow... Jackson may have been killed by injection

Police in Los Angeles want to question one of Michael Jackson's doctors amid claims that, only minutes before he died, the star was given an injection of the painkiller Demerol which can cause cardiac arrest.
The doctor, named by TMZ.com as cardiologist Conrad Robert Murray, was said to have tried to revive Jackson, then disappeared for several hours.
Several sources have confirmed the singer had been using Demerol as he battled to be fit for his first London show next month. The heart specialist had been living at his rented house.
The new mystery over Jackson's sudden death came as:
DEBBIE Rowe, the mother of two of his three children, vowed to fight 'tooth and nail' for custody against the singer's mother Katherine.
SPECIALISTS said Jackson probably died of a prescription drug overdose like Heath Ledger and Anna Nicole Smith.
CREDITORS began staking their claims to what remains of Jackson's fortune.
FANS gathered at makeshift shrines around the world while tributes to Jackson were led by Paul McCartney, Steven Spielberg and Madonna.
MICHAEL Jackson's tragic final moments have been revealed in the transcript of a 911 call.
On a tape released by the Los Angeles Fire Department this morning, a member of Jackson's entourage tells a switchboard operator that repeated attempts to revive Jackson with CPR had been unsuccessful.
Read the transcript here.
The unidentified male caller also tells the operator that Jackson's personal doctor -- who was reportedly being sought by police -- was the only witness to the star's collapse.
Jackson, who was pronounced dead roughly two hours later after being rushed to the UCLA Medical Centre, never regained consciousness after collapsing at his rented mansion in the exclusive Holmby Hills neighbourhood.
An autopsy will be conducted today with the results expected as earlier as this afternoon, according to the Los Angeles coroner's office.

The king of Australian Rock.

With one of the most unmistakable voices in Australian music, Jimmy Barnes has been one of the most successful driving forces in Aussie rock since coming onto the scene in the 1970s. As both lead singer of Cold Chisel and as a solo performer, Barnes has notched up an impressive collection of achievements, including 14 top 10 albums. His first six solo albums all reached the number one position on the Australian album charts, a feat unmatched by any other artist.
During the '70s and early '80s, Cold Chisel established themselves as one of Australia's most successful bands. Many of the group's songs remain ingrained in Australian culture. It was during these years that Barnes established his reputation as the hard-drinking, hard-partying front man.
Barnes launched his solo career less than a month after Cold Chisel performed their final shows in December, 1983. Songs such as 'Working Class Man', 'No Second Prize' and 'Driving Wheels' are held as the epitome of the Australian pub rock genre, especially the '80s subset.
Barnes' career has seen him take on a range of genres apart from rock, including funk, folk, blues and soul. He has also collaborated with an impressive list of musical talent including Tina Turner, INXS, Joe Cocker, John Farnham, Mick Fleetwood and Huey Lewis.

Thunder Down Under AC/DC Black Ice Tour

As Quoted at http://www.news.com.au/
THEIR knees might be creaking and the school uniform has seen better days, but AC/DC will be ready to rock when they bring their Black Ice World Tour to Australia in February.
The hard-working, hard-rocking band will unleash their high voltage rock 'n' roll during five shows in Australia, including a date at the Queensland Sport and Athletics Centre at Nathan in Brisbane on February 25.
Their first Australian tour since 2001 is their largest yet, with 48 semi-trailers required to shift sets around the country.
Last year they released Black Ice, their first CD in eight years – the second-biggest-selling CD in the world, which topped the charts in 29 countries. Their back catalogue was the biggest-selling of 2008, even outstripping the Beatles.
Their European shows sold out in 10 minutes, and promoter Garry Van Egmond is prepared for a similar reaction here when tickets go on sale on Monday, May 25.
"They play all their big hits. They naturally play a few hits from Black Ice. It's two hours of great rock 'n' roll," he said.
Tickets will be available for $99, or $149.90 for the best seats.
Van Egmond said the band gave specific instructions to keep prices reasonable.
"They want everybody to be able to afford it," he said. "They won't allow pre-sale selling – it will be 9am on a Monday and the same for everyone, there is no preferential treatment."
Unfortunately, Townsville fans, who campaigned to get AC/DC to visit their city, will miss out with promoters saying the were unable to host the outdoor show in north Queensland as it would be held in February, during the wet season.
"We're very sorry but it's during the wrong time of the year, and (Townsville fans) may have to come to Brisbane," Van Egmond said.
And while they may be wild rockers on stage, behind the scenes the band, aged between 54 and 61, couldn't be more professional.
"These are the most dedicated, straight people I've ever dealt with as a band, who are really involved with what happens with them," Van Egmond said.
By the time their tour winds up in 18 months, they will have played to an estimated three million people around the world.
